Curriculum

As the field of early childhood education has evolved, The Creative Curriculum continues to incorporate the latest research and best practices into its program, taking the needs of every type of learner into account.

Primary Beginnings has chosen to follow this curriculum to foster creativity in each child.

The Creative Curriculum® for Infants and Toddlers

The Creative Curriculum for infants and toddlers is a curriculum that has helped teachers determine appropriate activities for developing daily routines. These creative experiences are centered around each child’s needs, interests, and strengths.

The Creative Curriculum for infants and toddlers focuses on responsive care while incorporating objectives that enable teachers to focus on what matters most for young children. This edition helps teachers to plan and implement every aspect of caring for and teaching children from birth to age 3.

The Foundation

The foundation provides an outline for the research supporting The Creative Curriculum and explains the five parts of teaching and providing care.

Routines & Experiences

The routines and experiences component of The Creative Curriculum focuses on the five routines and eight experiences that are important to incorporate into the daily lives of children from birth to age 3. The planned routines and experiences should be intentional, but flexible to the individual interests and strengths of each child.

Objectives for Development and Learning: Birth Through Kindergarten

The objectives for development and learning breaks down the different skills and behaviors that are important to the development of young children. These objectives help our teachers monitor the learning of children.

The Creative Curriculum® System for Preschool

The Creative Curriculum System for Preschool is used by our preschool program. This curriculum is an award-winning system for monitoring the successes of preschoolers. Made up of research-based objectives and resources, it meets the state’s early learning standards. The theory and research of The Creative Curriculum provide our teachers with a foundation for success in their classrooms.

Daily plans and instructions come from teaching guides that help maintain organization of everyday moments, all year long.

Teaching Guides Include:

  • Daily resources for building knowledge and providing the “what,” “why,” and “how” of early childhood education.
  • Opportunities for individualizing instructions to meet the needs of different learning styles.
  • Ways for incorporating important aspects of learning, like art, technology, math, and social/emotional into everyday life.
  • Daily opportunities for observing children and seeing the relationship between the curriculum taught and assessed.
  • Resources for English and bi-lingual learners and guidance on best practices for teachers.
  • Resources for teaching different learning styles and advanced learners.

Using exploration and discovery as a way of learning, The Creative Curriculum System enables children to develop confidence, creativity, and lifelong critical thinking skills.
