In honor of the various cultures represented by our preschool and after school child care…
Raleigh has seen a lot of rain so far this summer. The inclement weather can really put a damper on summer fun plans, especially at a Raleigh child care center. To help keep your preschooler engaged throughout the next rainy summer day, we have put together a list of Rainy Day Activities. Also, Rain Day is July 29, so make sure to be prepared should it decide to storm that day.
Rainy Day Activities
- Create a Fort: Make a fort with blankets, pillows, chairs and whatever else you can find. Sit underneath and watch a movie with popcorn and other healthy snacks.
- Have a Dance Party: Turn up the music on your iPod or CD player and dance dance dance! Play kid friendly music or songs that involve your toddler following directions like the Hokey Pokey. Not only will your child be having fun, but also staying active despite being indoors.
- Bake Together: Find a kid-friendly recipe to make together.
- Make a Touch/Sensory Table: Fill a plastic storage container with rice, pasta, cereal, or flour. (You can fill the container with anything.) Give your preschooler cups, shovels, and measuring spoons and let them play. They’ll enjoy feeling the different textures of the materials and playing in their imaginative way.
Rainy days don’t have to be boring or uneventful. Use our helpful tips to turn the next rainy day into an indoor playground full of funky dance moves, cookies and pasta play time.
